Signs It's Time for a Roof Replacement
Determining when you need a roof replacement is not always an easy task, unless the roof has sustained obvious serious damage. Simply replacing some shingles may not be enough to solve the problem over the long term. At Bulldog Roofing, we have the experience and skills to assess the condition of your roof and determine if repairs or a complete replacement is necessary.
Some of the signs that may indicate a roof replacement is required include:
It Is More Than Two Decades Old
Many roofs are provided with a 20-year warranty. If your roof was installed more than two decades ago, it may be necessary now to replace it with a new roof to ensure proper function and aesthetics.
It Looks Worn Out or Damaged From the Street
If the condition of your roof is negatively affecting your home’s curb appeal because of its general disrepair, worn areas around vents and chimneys, or extensive streaking on your shingles, it may be time for a roof replacement.
Take a close look at your roof’s shingles. If they are missing completely, or appear broken, bent, stained, curled, or darker than normal, you may consider replacing all of them at once.
You roof can leak water and also light. If you see indications of water in your attic when the snow melts or after a rainstorm, or if you see light inside your attic without any artificial light, a roof replacement may be in order.
When shingles are in the process of deteriorating, small pieces break off havinh the appearance of dark colored sand. When you begin seeing granules in the yard and gutters, they have likely come from the shingles on your roof.
Paint That Has Stained, Peeled, or Bubbled
A leaky roof can not only degrade the exterior paint job around the roofline, it can also reach into the inside walls of your home.
Rising Energy Bills
A quality roof that is properly insulated will prevent cold and heat from infiltrating your home. If the roof has deteriorated enough, you will notice your utility bills increasing because the heater and/or air conditioner needs to work harder to maintain the desired temperature.
If you notice any of the above signs occurring with your roof and home, consider a roof replacement as soon as possible to prevent additional damage to your home and higher repair costs.
